Moderator: There has been some unpatriotic criticism of the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes the indefinite detention of American citizens, who government bureaucrats have a hunch are involved in terrorist activity.  Governor Romney—what is your view?

Romney:  I do believe it is appropriate to have in our nation the opportunity to detain people who are threats to this country.  Look, you have every right in this country to protest. You can express your views on a wide range of issues.  But you don’t have a right to join a group that has threatened to kill Americans.  In this country, we have a right to take those people and put them in jail.  And I also just want to say Happy 4th of July and God Bless America.

 Moderator: President Obama?

Obama: Well of course indefinite detention of American citizens is a valuable tool in the war on terror.  The President, as Commander in Chief, must retain the flexibility to determine how to apply those tools to the unique facts and circumstances we face in confronting this diverse and evolving threat.

Moderator: And…you?

The Naked Emperor: Governor Romney– The Constitution says that if you suspect an American citizen of doing something wrong that you must actually prove it in a court of law before you take away their liberty.  Anything else is unconstitutional.  And Mr. President, as a former professor on Constitutional law, you should remember that Administrations come and go, our individual rights must be constant.  And that is what the Constitution provides:  protection for citizens from the ambitious people in our government that constantly tempted by unbridled power.  There is no difference between these two on this position…

Moderator:  We are cutting away from this debate for some very important breaking news.  And now we cut to our Global News Center…

TV Anchor: It’s a shocker ! We have just learned that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are splitting up! Our correspondents are monitoring what is to become of little Suri…
